Hello,
I posted a question on abaqus forum regarding creating a solid rectangular spring. Here is the post.

Is it possible to create that in solid works and import it into abaqus and then define mesh and contacts without any errors? I am told that it might create some problem while meshing. Any guidance would be helpful.

I have used IGES format. But meshing was a pain especially if the geometry is a complex one. If its simple then you could get away with CAE itself.
