I am trying to start to use Linux and I have no idea about it. I have always used Windows and I am not keen on programming and stuff. Do you know any introductory book or free e-book (preferred) that could be suitable?

I would like to do very basic things at the begining, but afterwards I would like to install Abaqus in a remote machine operated in Linux and run jobs remotely and so. Is that really complicated?

I think internet is the best place for getting started with linux.
I shall recommend ubuntuforums.org, fedoraforums. Here you will get really good help. Read through the forums and try to understand the basic workings of GNU linux os.

Then you will be in a position to find out which distribution to use. distrowatch.com
Then partition your harddrive and install linux on your computer. or on a different pc.
