Does anyone know how to specify the orientation for composite in ansys. how do i know the stacking/normal direction is in the way i expect it to be?

help please. thank you
Hi,

I do not have ansys now. But I know that this can be done. I think you have to plot the orientation (display) to know what stacking direction to use and can be changed if necessary. It is better to define local coordinate system and specify the normal direction there.

note: i have not used ansys for composites. but i think the procedure should be same for all.
I vaguely remember using it. I primarily use abaqus. Let me see if I could ask around and get an answer for you.
OK thanks. I will try plotting.

Hi would suggest you to send an email to XXXXXXX on XXXXX@XXX.edu. He is a PhD candidate and has worked on composite analysis in ANSYS. As far as I remember, he is the one who helped me out with composite analysis in ANSYS.
